Rent a car from Santi at the airport. They also have public transportation in joberg. Train will go from joberg a little pass Mildred. They have urber or can service depending on the location. Don't be taken back from the many people you see. Keep your gaurd yo just like in American wallet by your side. FNB bank and find a vault for all your valuable items there a vault located down town joberg

I stayed in Rose Bank apartment arbnb

Use courier for your groceries and dry cleaner is cheaper they fold,iron clean dry etc. Maid if you need one go towards Mildred, they are easily ti be trained

I am South African and you are more than welcome, like the US, South Africa is a melting pot of Cultures, Religions, Skin Colors, very friendly people open hearted, but like the US we also got our problems, unfortunately 1% always make life hell for the 99%. Just be wise, stay away from areas you dont feel comfortable, basically, what you won't be doing in the US do the same in Soutrh Africa. I am white and my family has been in Africa for 400 years, and there is something in the air or the water that makes you African, yes, I am African, a White African and I will never be anything else.

South Africans are very friendly people, The "Welcome Home" sign on all SA Airports are for the South Africans who now live and work overseas, There are millions of S Africans working all around the world. It is always very humbling to read the sign, Black or White we love our country and the Border Control always says "Welcome Home" if they see our SA Passports. The words "Mamma" are a sign of respect towards Women and Men are called "Boetie" witch means my brother also used as a sign of respect. Blacks in SA call whitemen "Umhlegaz" and Women thay also call "Mamma" it is very normal, I would worry if they stop calling you Mamma or Boetie.

Well you should thank FW De Klerk. He made life luxury for Africans. But we the Whites are left behind with nothing.
